The Grace of God and His Promise of Forgiveness

1 John 1:8-2:2 [NIV]
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word is not in us. My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father — Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

These words show us the grace, love and patience of our God. His grace is not to be taken as a license to sin freely without repentance and expect to remain in His grace. Remember, He calls us to confession of our sins and repentance. However, God’s grace upon us is a promise of forgiveness when we confess our sins and turn to Him.

He knows we are not perfect. He knows we will struggle with our sinful nature until the day we are with Him in His kingdom. He knows all the sins in our lives, past, present, and future, and He died for us anyway so we could be redeemed and reconciled to Him. He knows your heart better than you do, and He still loves you. There is nothing you could ever do to cause Him to stop loving you. Just put your faith and trust in Him and trust in His promise of forgiveness. Turn from sin, don’t continue in it. Remember, God’s grace is not an excuse to live in sin. But if you do fall. If you do give into temptation, trust in God’s grace and His love for you. He will cleanse you. He will restore you.

God loves you. He died for you. He rose from the dead for you. He is your Lord and your God. You can trust Him. He will hold you up, wipe your tears from your eyes and restore you heart.

Glory be to our God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise His holy name forever and forever for He has rescued us from our sins and from His wrath upon sin. He has rescued us from the pit of hell. He has washed our sins away and will give us rest in His grace for all eternity.

God bless you this day and for all eternity as you follow Jesus.
