Job 11:13-15 NIV
“Yet if you devote your heart to him and stretch out your hands to him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then, free of fault, you will lift up your face; you will stand firm and without fear.
Surrender. A word that is usually synonymous with defeat. Surrender comes when we are out of options to fight with, and if you think about it we really are. When we are living in sin and continuing down our own path of choice, we are standing against God. We are in stark defiance to the one who created us as well as everything and everyone around us. He is almighty God. Who are we to defy Him, to doubt Him, or to rebel against Him? If we go up against God, we lose every time.
Thankfully, not only is He almighty, all powerful, completely holy and 100% just, but He is loving. He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to die for us. Imagine sending your only son to willingly suffer and die a humiliating sinners death for your worst enemy. Now imagine that enemy rejecting your son’s sacrifice on their behalf and spitting in your face in blatant defiance of your love.
God is love, but He is just. He loves us so much that He went to the greatest length to save us from our sins. God’s wrath remains on sin. He has offered a way of escape through His Son’s sacrifice on our behalf. Jesus willingly took the punishment for our sins on our behalf and through faith in Him, we are washed clean and saved from God’s wrath.
In this war of sin and righteousness, pure good and pure evil, we must realize that apart from God, apart from Jesus, we are God’s enemy. He is offering redemption and full amnesty, but it requires surrender to Him by faith in His Son.
In sin, we are defeated but by surrender and faith in Jesus, we have the victory over sin that He already accomplished for us on the cross.
Surrender today and have victory in Christ. It’s the only way we can win. He is our only hope of salvation.
