The Anchor of Sin

Psalm 32:1-2 NIV
[1] Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. [2] Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.

When we are living in sin, our soul is tormented. We are uneasy and depressed. We may not even be aware of our state because it’s been such a slow fade away from the Lord. But that tug at our heart, that sense of sadness and quarrel within us is the indication that something is wrong. If we ignore it, we will only sink further into sin and the depression will only get worse.

But there is peace in the Lord. There is freedom in His forgiveness. There is comfort in His love as He washes our sins away. Once we come to Him in repentance and let go of what we were holding onto so tight, we find it wasn’t anything worth holding onto at all. The peace and joy we have in being right with God is infinitely more valuable than whatever fleeting sin that was destroying us.

Is there something keeping you from fellowship with God today? Whatever your flesh is holding onto, let it go. Believe me, it’s just an anchor holding you to the bottom of the sea. Leave it there and grab hold of the Father’s hand. He will set you free.

You will never have greater peace and joy than knowing your sins are forgiven and you are right with God in Jesus Christ.

Have a blessed day as you leave the past behind you and step forward with your eyes fixed on Jesus, following His footsteps on the water.
