Are you remaining in Christ…
…or have you left?
1 John 2:19 CSB
They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. However, they went out so that it might be made clear that none of them belongs to us.
Have you walked away from God? Have you been enticed away or driven away from fellowship with God and His people?
In John chapter 15, Jesus drives the point home that IF we remain in Him, He will remain in us. He also warns that if we do not remain in Him we will whither and die and by cast into the fire.
There is no life apart from Christ. In fact, in John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
If you’re not remaining in Christ. If the Holy Spirit is not working in and through your life, changing your heart to be more like Christ. If you’re not remaining in Him and He’s not remaining in you, guiding you, instructing you, teaching you, then you need to come back.
If you’re reading this right now and you know you’re not seeking Jesus and bowing in submission to Him as Lord daily, it’s not too late. His arms are open. He’s reaching out. You simply need to repent and turn back to Him.
Let the light and life of Jesus Christ back into your life today. He is the way so He will show you the way, He is the truth so He will teach you real truth and He is the life so He will give you new and everlasting LIFE.
Romans 10:9 says if you confess Jesus as LORD, (meaning you believe, confess, bow to and put your trust in Jesus AS your Lord over your life, thoughts, words and actions) and if you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you WILL be saved. Romans 10:10 goes on to say that one believes with the heart and the result of that is righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth which results in salvation and everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame.
The Bible makes it clear, this is not a one and done prayer of confession. There no magic phrase that makes you a “Christian” but so you can just keep living as lord over your own life. Christian means Christ-like. That’s not something we can do. Sure we can fake it for a little bit in little ways but to be truly transformed to be Christ-ians means we die to ourselves, surrender to Him as Lord and submit obediently to the working of the Holy Spirit within our hearts and lives.
In Luke 9:23 Jesus said, “If anyone wants to follow after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross DAILY, and follow Me.”
Philippians 1:6 says, “I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Being saved, being a Christian, being born again of the Spirit is a daily walk with the Lord, remaining in Him. Remaining in His Word. Remaining in humble obedience to Him as Lord. We don’t do it perfectly, but we follow Him by the power of His Spirit. We trust in His grace and mercy for when we stumble in our walk. We trust in the good work He has begun in us, that He WILL carry that work on, in and through us until the day of Christ Jesus.
If you’re reading this today, and you know you need to come back to Him, it’s not too late. He’s reaching out to you today.
What if this is one last chance? Don’t miss it.
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 CSB
Working together with him, we also appeal to you, “Don’t receive the grace of God in vain.” For he says: At an acceptable time I listened to you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. See, now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation!
